The Green Room

A friend asked me for last minute tips before presenting on stage. This is what I’ve learned over the last 20 years as a performer and speaker:

1. Breathe. Twelve deep breaths. Slow in, slow out. In will calm you and activate your brain at a deeper level.

2. Don’t let any one person’s reaction affect you, but, do read the crowd as a whole and alter your act accordingly.

3. Your gut NOT your anxiety is your friend.

It doesn’t seem like much, but frankly there’s not more you can hold in your head when faced with audience of 10 or 10,000. Most importantly rehearse, rehearse, rehearse, and then rehearse again. Second most importantly, have a good time. The audience will sense this and join you.
